Author, Ken Connelly talks about his parental child abduction case over the three videos we hear about his story.
Ken Connelly is the author of Throwing Stones; parental child abduction through the eyes of a child. This is one of the first cases in United States history to result in a felony conviction for Parental Child Abduction or Parental Kidnapping. Mr. Connelly discusses parental kidnapping and child abduction from the child’s perspective. Often as parents and professionals we overlook the child’s feelings while making our case as an adult and parent over pre and post abduction. Unlike “stranger’ abduction, Parental Kidnapping destroys a child’s basic trust foundation; the family. Ken further shows how Parental Child Abduction/Kidnapping leads to a Parental Alienation Syndrome. This syndrome mimics Stockholm Syndrome in many ways. Many parents who have abducted their children rely on misleading arguments against Parental Alienation Syndrome and that the child is unaware, or settled in their new enviroment; this is absolutley false. For the first time a victim of this crime has come foward to speak out on this CRIME. Mr. Connelly was kidanapped at the age of seven and recovered at the age of eleven. Throwing Stones is the first book written from this unique point of view. Regardless of domestic or international parental child abduction, this video will help the viewer understand the confusion and mistrust a child experiences during this type of crime. Mr. Connelly was kidnapped on October 10, 1980 in Orange, California, and recovered on December 5, 1983 in Bastrop, Texas.

This is more news clippings from the case of baby keegan, this time from abc news.
American Breaking news report on the child abduction of Keegan Schuchard. What shocks me is how much of this particular news reel is on hear say and i realise that it is breaking news and in this case it was important to get the news that the child had been taken out as quickly as possible so that the child could be found safely, however when she shares the news that the mother of this child has passed away she gives the mothers name even tho its unconfirmed that she had even passed away. It is very repetitive but you can get a good idea of it from the first 5 mins of video.
Frozen By Bryony Lavery
This is a short clip of ”Frozen” performed by Judith Andrew, Anne Marie Cummings and Ruby Max Fury at The Space, Ithaca, New York. It gives a little snippet of what the play is about and how it is built up with monologues.
Frozen was the first point of inspiration for me with the theme of child abduction.
The link will take you to a full plot of this film as i was unable to find the trailer for the film, i did find a small synopsis on http://www.imdb.com.
A mother searches for five years to find her kidnapped son in this fact-based drama. Unexpectedly the boy is found, but the reunion is not as she hoped. She now has to deal with five years of abuse that the boy suffered at the hands of his kidnappers.
Andrew the son was kidnapped for 5 years by his own father and his father’s partner who did not have full custody of him and only had him for one weekend a month. This film was based on a true story.

Another film i watched as part of my inspiration/ research into my new project was The Girl in the park (2007) unfortunately i couldn’t find a better quality trailer for this film.
Enduringly traumatized by the disappearance of her 3-year-old daughter 15 years ago, Julia Sandburg has cut herself off from anyone once near and dear to her, including her husband Doug and her son Chris, who tried for years to penetrate her wall of isolation and despair, without success. But when Julia meets Louise, a troubled young woman with a checkered past, all Julia’s old psychic wounds painfully resurface, as does her illogical and increasingly irrational hope that Louise may be the daughter she lost so long ago.

An American Crime was one of the films i watched as a way of researching abductions, child abuse. Below is a synopsis of the film taken from http://www.imdb.com
Based on a true story that shocked the nation in 1965, the film recounts one of the most shocking crimes ever committed against a single victim. Sylvia and Jennie Fae Likens, the two daughters of traveling carnival workers are left for an extended stay at the Indianapolis (3850 E. New York St. is hardly suburban, nor was it in 1965, by any stretch of the imagination.) home of single mother Gertrude Baniszewski and her six children. Times are tough, and Gertrude’s financial needs cause her to make this arrangement before realizing how the burden will push her unstable nature to a breaking point. What transpires in the next three months is both riveting and horrific, leaving one child dead and the rest scarred for life.

some dioramas i built last year
I really like these- its just made me realise that i could have made my dioramas a lot better, but they weren’t designed to be gallery pieces anyway- although as I’m approaching third year at a pelting speed maybe i should start thinking about creating work that could be displayed all of the time.
